Holiday Emergencies

What if your stove stops working just before the holidays? In case it does we have useful tips on how you can get it going again. If nothing else works, you can contact our registered Electrical Service Technicians (EST).

‌Nothing worse than having a celebratory meal planned and an appliance stops working. If it’s a washing machine you would be able to wait or go to a laundret. But what if it’s one of your stove? Well, then you have two choices: 
‌
‌Source someone to do emergency repairs or try and get the broken appliance working again? If you decide to go for the first option, it’s always good to have our number handy: 027 786 8848 – to contact our experienced EST's for an emergency repair. If go for option 2 then we have some tips for you on how to repair it.

‌Problem 1: The Oven does not switch on but the top elements work. If your oven doesn't switch on, it may be the timeclock. Sometimes the button has been pushed trning it to off. Check that the "hand" is visible in the time window. See our clock function page to check yours out

‌Problem 2: The Top Elements turn on and go straight to HOT.  If your electric elements heat up and glow bright without switching off, you might have a problem with the Simmerstats.  Simmerstats regulate the heat to the element. If it’s broken, you can call us and we'll replace it. 
‌
‌Problem 3: Stove does not operate at all No lights come on, digital clock is not showing, clock with hands are not moving. Check thatv the switch above the stove is "On". Next check your switchboard for tripped circuit breakers. If your switchboard does not have MCB's it may have a large porcelaine fuse holder which may be blown. Replace the fuse wire or reset the tripped MCB. If it trips or blows again then there could be fault with the Stove. Call us.
